91 manual jetta won't shift gears

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My son's 91 Wolfsbrug edition manual transmission Jetta won't shift gears. The fluid
receptacle near the back ( I think for brake fluid) is full. There is a little receptacle right
next to the battery that looks low, but I don't know what goes in it. I'm just a mom trying to
help my teenage son narrow down possibilities before spending money at a garage.
Any ideas?

Will it go into the gears with the engine turned off? If so its probably a slave cylinder issue. Either needs bleeding or replacing.

Delete the space between (an- 02). (an-02) should look like that in the address. At that site is a link to a video that might help explain one way to bleed the system.
The other little receptacle should be the clutch slave cylinder fluid. Most use just regular brake fluid in them.
