Oil Pressure light/beeper

Asked by Guru9ZY8DK Nov 28, 2020 at 06:52 PM about the 1993 Volkswagen Jetta GL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At about 2500 RPM, whether driving or reving the engine in "park", the oil
indicator light comes on and a beeping alarm comes on.  The light and alarm
will intermittently stop and start as I'm driving, but never stops completely until
I turn the car off.  When starting the car (at idle), there is no warning light or
buzzer.  It only occurs once I reach 2500 RPM and then continues
intermittently regardless of RPM.  I replaced the oil pressure sensor unit on top
of the oil filter, but that didn't solve the problem.  Does this indicate an
electrical problem?  Can I continue to drive the car?

This indicates the obvious, a low oil pressure problem which is likely due to a worn out engine. Did you check the oil level?
