Are 90s jettas good cars?

I spotted a manual jetta in my town it looks like its in good condition its the gl model I was wondering if anyone know what they are worth and if they are a decent car? And what would you do to customize it I can't lower it or do body kits its way to bumpy here.

90'S model VW are not as bad as any other of the period....I have a friend who got a 95 GTI and boy is was nice. The jetta (for a good price) would be a nice investment as a work in progess ride, but i really would not spend to much on it...paint job, rims, short shifter, keeping it clean!!!
Real performance potential in the Golf/Jetta line came on with the MKIV series and the implementation of the 1.8t. The MKIII saw the introduction of the VR6 in it's first form...and that engine also saw improvement later. Sure, there are folks that successfully massage MKIII into powerful platforms, but at great cost and effort. Again, VW ownership isn't about how fast you go...it's about your journey with the VW family.
The 96 implement OBDII engine management which can provide a higher level of maintainability...or complexity depending how you look at it. FWIW, that vehicle in good condition should be around $2000-$2500. I have seen extremely nice copies go for much more, but that's rare.
I kbb it at and for a private seller Ltd be around $1200 but it said it could go to about $2250. Thanks
