If the CEL is steady and not flashing, it is safe to drive. The rich fuel mixture may damage the O2 sensor and catalytic converter. Do not drive a car with a flashing CEL. -- I'm not recognizing "16885" as a valid code.

It will have a "P" followed by 4 numbers, and even if you take out the '1' and use 'P' there is still no 6885 on the VW OBDII chart ..or P1688, I tried several variations and nothing
