clutch cable or throwout bearing

Asked by Cory Nov 29, 2010 at 03:37 PM about the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

about three weeks ago while I was driving the clutch pedal slammed to the floor and made a loud thump noise I thought that the clutch cable snapped or the pressure plate went out in the clutch but after replacing the clutch the same problem is occuring it seems that the throwout bearing is not pushing up does anyone have any ideas?

Not sure about this year, but it sounds like the clutch release lever.
