Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Placed car in Park now cannot get it to disengage. Transmission is locked in Park. Car was fine power steering fluid ok. Noticed that the steering wheel doesn't lock. Any ideas

brake switch, causes the car to not shift from park but will run just fine.

Thanks, almost all references on the internet relate to a brake light switch.One site refers to cleaning a brake switch. 1. Is it possible for the average user to clean the switch. 2. Does the problem with a brake light switch mean the same as a brake switch? Thanks

i belive they are indeed one in the same, i hav not heard of cleanin it, but it is a fairly cheap part i belive.

I had mine lock in park when a brake light bulb burnt out. I replaced the bulb, and it come out of park.
