installation paper left in oil pan by dealer

Asked by minnesotaredneck82 Mar 22, 2020 at 08:48 PM about the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta New GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so the dealer put a new oil pan on my 1999 jetta GLS 2.0 and they left the
installation papers in the oil pan and put it back on. drove the car for 1,000
miles and then the oil pan cracked. took it back to the mechanic and they
just pulled the oil pan off looked at the motor and said it was fine and tried to
make me pay for them to replace it well i did just with a different mechanic.
my car doesn't have a knock but the motor is running bad. so my question is
what can that do to my motor leaving that in it and running it for 1,000 miles?

There could have been oil starvation due to the papers or the engine could have been damaged when the pan cracked. If they don't own up you need an attorney.
