2000 Jetta VW Coolant Reservoir Leaking

Asked by Vkbran01 May 09, 2019 at 04:04 AM about the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car just started over heating
with smoke coming out from
underneath the hood. Stopped
let it cool down for about 30
minutes then added water to it
since i didnt have antifreeze at
the time. The reservoir was
completely empty. Tried driving
it to gas station for antifreeze
once got there started smoking
and over heating again so i
immediately pulled over again.
Once i added the antifreeze i
could see it lealing out of the
coolant tank dripping on the
ground. Is there any way to fix
the reservoir that is cracked?
Also what are some other
problem to look at to help this
situation.

When i turn the engine off you can hear where one of the hoses is leaking. Ive had a puddle underneath the driver side. What is the easiest way to find the leak?
