Sounds like you might have a flaky starter or a weak battery.

If the starter.is messed up, will it still work sometimes? And can you get it ?
My Jetta sounds like it might be doing the same thing. It takes me a few tries to get it started after it has sat for several hrs but other than that it starts up with no problems. Did you ever get yours figured out?
