I'm 17 and looking for a first car

I'm looking at cars around 5k. I been looking at a
manual 03 VW jetta with 120k miles on it, but
some people say they are amazing but yet others
say their crap and just fall apart.. I just want
something that looks sharp, sporty,  fun to drive
and good on gas. And later in the future mods on
it to make it good faster

not knowing what turns you on who knows i...when i was 17 i wanted a 454ci 450 horse chevelle...

Personally i would not suggest buying a jetta for a first car especially because they are high maintenance and they are very expensive to fix if they need to be fixed. I got one for a first car and ive had nothing but problems. :(

A Honda or Toyota that has been owned and maintained by an adult might be a good choice. Don't buy a car from any of your friends!
