I don't know anything about your 2.0 or 1.8t but generally you'll need the complete motor, complete wiring harness, computer(s), motor mount(s), air intake duct work with filter box (might have different MAF/VAF/etc setup) and potentially much more. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you join a VW forum and do a crap ton of research. I also believe in replacing most of the parts and accessories that may be hard to get to in general so you have sort of a relatively "new" motor.

Ditto on Walth's post...btw, if you're at this phase of questions, you probably aren't ready to tackle this project alone. Forums like VW Vortex has...MyFastGTI...and others have documented conversions such as this. Study, my friend...study hard.

I feel mine and Scott's answers still apply to your question Ryan. Check out the forums, check out the build threads, figure out if you can splice harness / swap entire deal and what all components you don't have to swap and which ones you do, etc.

So I'm still working on my 2001 Jetta I just pulled the 2.0 motor and about to put the 1.8t motor in but I lost my key can I take the ignition out a golf and use the door locks will the chip program it self after I hook it up when I put it in

Sorry, Ryan, I have no idea. My first thought when I read this weeks ago was that I would search high and low for that key. I don't know if the ECU is flashed to the ignition or if it is just the key to the ignition module. I don't know much about flashing keys.. limited knowledge with Subaru key fobs because of a writeup someone else did. Search for vague terms like.. jetta ignition swap.. jetta key chip, etc.. then as you find specific terminology, like "flash" or "key flash" adapt your search to the year range of your jetta. Just open every search result in a new tab, skim through them all looking for good info. Then repeat. I'm talking dozens.. just open them all. I wish the best of luck to you with the swap.
