Am installing new pads on rear of 05New Jetta 2.5. How do I compress the cylinder?

They make special tool however you can simply use a large diameter socket inside the piston and a c-clamp. Make sure the e brake is off first though. Afterward pump the brakes to get a solid pedal before driving.
The rear brake piston need to b s crude back in the caliper. they need to b push n turn to the write at the time.You can to pep boys or any parts store and get the tool you need. Have fun.
If it doesnt compress with a C-clamp and the old brake pad, then it needs to be screwed back in. If it's a screw type then there will be some sort of indentions on it to allow a tool to grab and spin it.
