Hi Everyone, my 2005 Jetta has been doing some weird things.  My engine light does not come on but my RPM's when accelerating sometimes will jump and I have to really push on the gas to gain some speed.  It surges I guess is more like it.  Also, i hear a booming noise sometimes when slowing down the car.  This does not happen all the time just periodically.  I took it to the mechanic and he told me that he thought it had something to do with the fuel I was using.  I have been using 89 octane for the last 6 years.  So I changed to 92 octane and the performance is better.  I did this about 2 weeks ago.  I have not had that problem until yesterday it started acting up again.  Any suggestions?

is your jetta turbocharged? if it is, it might be going into limp mode. check this article http://www.elitedubs.com/index.php?topic=988

Thanks so much for the reply. Found out its a valve body issue unfortunately. $3,400 to fix.
