Is my clutch bad

Asked by GuruC61 Mar 17, 2017 at 01:11 PM about the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I picked my sons car up from the mechanic it is a 2005 jetta. We replaced
the oil pump, he started going down the road and could not shift the car into
second gear or get it to release for that matter. He said clutch feels normal,
but if he turns the car off it will release out of first gear. Also he states when
he has the clutch pushed in it still feels like the car is trying to move forward.
So I took it back to the mechanic and he says that he has never had a car
do this before, he thinks it may be clutch. Any suggestions

I would make sure the clutch hydraulics are working properly before changing the clutch.

My car turns over and start but it shuts off and it's a 2005 Jetta and I'm trying to see what is the problem they said I need a crush but I'm just really trying to see before I spend so much money on a clutch and that's not the problem
