Auto on/ off headlights

Asked by Dave Apr 23, 2018 at 09:53 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

My '99 Tahoe LS has the manual headlight switch.  I was
wondering, has anyone ever converted the standard
headlight switch to the auto on/off switch?  What would be
needed to do that conversion?  I imagine there is more to it
than just swapping the switch.

The auto headlights work off a photo-cell sensor that is udall in the dash. If you don't have auto lights I doubt you have the sensor or the harness for it. There would also be programming for it in the pcm or bcm. It's more than just a switch

Thank you for your answer. It was confusing because that year Tahoe has a sensor installed for DRL on the LS model. The LS has a manual switch where the LT model has the auto on/ off option and setup. This is my snow, camping, and kayaking 4 x 4 off-road build. I have time to tinker and modify as it will not be my everyday driver. If it was an easy swap I was more than willing to give it a go.
