Antifreeze leaking

Went to have oil change and was told my car is leaking antifreeze. My check engine light is on and was told I needed a new thermostat. I asked would that fix leak. But they could not answer that for me. Would thermostat cause leak? It has not over heated.

Yes, it can cause the engine to run hotter than it should, leading to coolant expanding into the overflow bottle and then out the overflow tube to the ground. You don't see a leak under the car because it overflowed while you were driving. It's an inexpensive part to replace.
You need to check around the car to see if you can find where the coolant is leaking from. You have hoses, radiator, water pump as possibilities.
LOL, well I hope you told them what they could do for $450... Top off your coolant and run the car in the driveway and see if you can find your leak. Let it get hot and see if it starts running out of the overflow bottle. If it is indeed the thermostat then change it and refill your coolant system with a proper mix of antifreeze. Take it in for a coolant flush, most shops will replace the thermostat as part of that service for around $100.
Yea I thought that was a bit to much and crazy.. but they couldn't tell me if that would fix my leak...
Oh and they said it would take 4 hours to fix.. VW is trying to get over on me... a shame..
