2006 Jetta engine will not Rev and/or accelerate?

have you checked the throttle body and throttle linkage?

I just got code pulled this morning and they told me to try and clean out throttle body first...Thanks for your answer, I am thinking its throttle sensor if cleaning don't work!

these cars all use electronics now a days my 2012 jetta uses a simalure throttle body and it had the computer on the side of it crapped out and the flap came loose. you can take the plastic part of the throtle body and clean the flap and check it for signs of looseness. Also any sensors up till that point if you can clean them will likely help as well. Using MAF sensor cleaner should do the trick for all these parts if cleaning it does not work you can do 1 of 2 things replace the control modual or the whole throttle body. tho its likely you will have to replace the whole throttle body and i would recommend it. If this does not fix your car you can always send it back for a refund they will likely charge a restock fee but its better then having an unnecessary part for full price. We replaced the whole throttle body sensor with one off of a used car and it begin to work again after we pulled sensor codes, however, the transmission which you can't check like a normal car went out 3 months later...hope this help!

i figured it was as such. as for the trany what exactly went wrong ? was it grinding gears ? simply won't work ? won't shift? its possible it could be a fuse or relay. the codes from the rosh tech scanner would help solve that issue as well. not 100% sure but i think the trany computer is under the passenger side carpet under the seat you could try checking that for dampness as water some times makes its way into it.

Not a transmission ! Most likely it's a throttle body issue. I just went through same thing and it was replaced and no problems.
