carseats are an imperfect art- any time a child is in a motor vehicle, his/her life is at risk- start there, with this simple fact, then do everything you can to make it as safe as possible- the best seat, in the back, restrained properly, and YOU drive as carefully as you can- and, by the way, a 1999 Tahoe is not the safest vehicle to own-
I am a certified child safety-seat technician. I don't see anything on their website to indicate why that seat wouldn't fit your vehicle. the safest place for a child restraint seat is in the middle of the second row. if you don't have LATCH anchors there, then install it using the vehicle safety belts.
