does engine turn over? if so you need to check and see if your getting gas to throttle. best and easy way to check what could be the problem is to get some starting fluid and spray it down into throttle body. if it trys to start and run for awail then that means the fuel pump is not delievering fuel and you are getting spark. if it doesnt start or run for a bit after spraying starting fluid you may have a no spark issue. also you saying the gas gauge is not working, you more then likely may have hooked the wires up wrong. iv seen many people forget to hook ground wire up right. ground wire not connected will not let pump come on and not show fuel level.
