Question type: General
I have a 2003 vw beetle turbo, sometimes when I brake there is a sliding
noise coming from the rear, trunk is empty and spare and tools well secured, it does not have a spoiler and the sunroof could be open or closed.
Any ideas? Thanx

check the brakes....? and more info would help.
Hello and thanx but the brakes are fine. I'm thinking that since I inflated the tires to recommended psi(they were low )and the noise happens more often now ,it could be that the shocks are worn out and the rear tire is rubbing against the tire well when braking
sure way to know if your shocks are failing is bounce the car. Lean on the fender and push down. Also the wheels will look equal between fender and tire both back and front. Try checking your stabilizer bar. Often sliding sensations can be the links have broken which causes sway in the axle.
You need to put some lubricant on the rear spoiler. There is a manual switch located under the dash on the driver side. Kinda of to the left the steering column. It opens when you get to about 45mph and will close when you come to a stop.
Finally figured it has a spoiler and lubricated it Thanx Ibellon
