Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Faulty vent selenoid; faulty purge coltrol selenoid or faulty fuel tank pressure sensor.
Any suggestions about the code and possible issues? The BIG VW sealer around here
told me it would be $1200 to fix (replace) my spoiler. (I think I can just pull the fuse to the
spoiler motor) I don't trust them to do any seroius work. They'd charge me an arm and
leg. I only paid $3200 for the car! My trusted mechanic told me he's never worked on a
Beetle before, and when I told his the code, he passed on trying to fix it. Any
suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!!

The light went off a few days ago. I heard a thunk, which I thought was the car stalling. The car started right back up and I drove away. The light was off! It was snowy when the light came on. And it was near 40 when it went off. Thinking maybe snow got in/around something causing the light, and finally melted away/fell off, causing the thunk?? Either way, I"m glad the light is off. Hopefully, it'll stay that way.
