Can changing the front brakes and rotors on a 2001 vw passat cause my vehicle to have some hesitation when taking off after a complete stop?

Asked by Independant48 Jun 06, 2016 at 12:46 PM about the 2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my front brakes and rotors changed and the oil and oil filter and every
since then there has been a hesitation in my car when I take off from a
complete stop such as a stoplight but then it takes off and drive good. Did not
have this issue before I had maintenance done to it.

Not related to brakes, have the codes DTCs read, make sure that NOW... because it NOT grinding or pulsing that you just notice this hesitation much more? Unless the guys accidentally unplugged a sensor this is not related to brakes service or an oil change. Regards

preaty much what he said. where did you go to get the oil and brakes done? some times the garages like to unplug things to bring you back and get more money out of you. I would go over all your wire harnesses and see if anything is unplugged or loosened off. a hesitation issue is usually caused by the throttle body or maf issues so i would clean both sensors front and back. The maf is obvious but some models have a second heat sensor just up by the throttle body. if you have the 2.8L the sensor looks like the picture i am posting. if this is any smaller engine i don't think they have these sensors. also check all the crank case hoses for signs of breaks and cloggage.

Crank case breather hoses are often attached to one side of the head cover or the other.

What has happened to me multiple times after oil changes...they pull the air filter to check or replace and do not put it back together well and doesnt create a proper air flow seal. Now I tell them DO NOt touch the air filter and I handle that myself.
