Hello, Your tire selection will depend on the type of driving you do, the climate in which you live, and preference for how you like your ride to feel. I would recommend visiting a local tire store (such as a Tire Rack or Discount Tire) and talking to them about your preferences. They will be able to make a better recommendation than someone who cannot see or know the car. If you'd rather research yourself, then here is a great link that will let you play around with different looks for your vehicle: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SelectTireSize.jsp?autoMake=Volkswagen&autoModel=Passat+GL+TDI+Sedan&autoYear=2004&autoModClar= Best of luck! If you're on a tight budget and for average driving (temporate climate), I've found that the Fuzion brand of tires is a good choice. Went up in size from the standard 195/15 to 205/15. They are moderately priced and wear, handle and ride very well. The down side is increased road noise.
