Where exactly is the drain for the ac on the car

Does it get wet when it rains? I would look at the windshield gasket for leaks and check to see if your door drains are plugged.

The drain normally drains under the car near the fire wall on the passenger side. If you idle the car for a while with the AC on a puddle will form under the drain.

well you need a recovery tank and a vacuum pump and a set of gauges, I dont know if you have all this stuff but that is the proper equipment to evacuate the system. if you have all this, all you have to do is hook up the blue line of the Gauges to the low side of the system. The low side is located on the drivers side and the high side is by the condencer. then hook up the vacuum pump to the yellow line and to the tank. then open up the blue line with the Pump running and the valve to the tank open and watch the pressure drop to 0 on the low and 90 psi on the high. Then open up the red line and wait about 40 min for all the pressure to drop. The system should be evacuated.

have you noticed your anti freeze levels going down?

so i have narrowed it down, went out today and had the heater going to take the condensation off the windows after really thoroughly sucking the air out, and sure enough within a few minutes i had some water at my feet again, so i know know its not coming from the sun roof. So now its just a water of getting under the car and finding the blasted vent, thanks everyone

i would remove the trim under the window and clean out the gutters. Then i would find the drain holes and use a hose or power washer to blast the drain holes out.

i am kind of at a loss,went for a drive today, with no air on whatsoever, by the time i got home it was drenched again

have you checked the anti freeze levels like i said before? if it is low your most likely looking at a ruptered heater core or pipe to the heater core. It is located under the dash my friend.

Coolant level is fine

Lots of bad info from good people. My 08 Passat sat outside for about 6 weeks. Came back and opened the drivers door and saw 2 inches of water. Sucked it out. Next day, standing water again with no rainfall or use of vehicle. What happens is when so much rate accumulates the padding gets soaked. It’s impossible to vacuum all the water out. I had to remove the drivers seat and some trim and then pulled the carpet up. Floor pan was still flooded. Dried it all out and haven’t driven it since. There’s definitely a drain problem and I haven’t found the drain yet! The videos I’ve watched are useless. I’m thinking about buying a shop manual.

Have an 2008 Passat wagon. Have had what sounds like similar problem happen a few times now. What I’ve found is that the water accumulated from rain in the drains (one set of drains in sunroof and one set of drains in front god under the windshield wipers). These drains accumulate dirt, leaves, pollen, etc other (especially if you park outside), when it rains the water accumulated and doesn’t drain - so, if finds it’s way into floor wells of Passat (both sides but from what I’ve been reading of others it is most often on passenger side). You’ll need to find those holes/drains and clear. Using either pressured air hose, wire string like a “snake” or just cleaning away drift build up at the tips of the respective drain plugs where I highlighted. There is a user video of this on YouTube made by GuitarMaggedon on his 2006 Passat explaining that I found quite clear. Good luck.
