2006 Cranks over and over but won't start

Asked by Joseph Jan 30, 2019 at 05:59 AM about the 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving it about 50 mph then it felt like it lost power
and went down to about 20 or so...........i pulled over and
parked. Now it just cranks over and over but does not want
to start up. I checked Schrader valve and am getting fuel
pressure there. I changed the cam shaft sensor and still
getting same.

Have the obd read if not done so already. Check to see if you have spark to cylinder. Some ideas without a scan are MAF, crank sensor, air flow issue. Good Luck!

Hello. Well i did that last week and it gave me a p0304 so i changed out the coil and spark plug on #4. Then code went away.......but will run another scan this afternoon. Thanks

Took it apart over weekend, timing chain missing lots of teeth so will be replacing it. How do I remove this rusted harmonic balancer

Soak it wth Pb blaster or Kroil penetrating oil. If you can leave it on there overnight and get you harmonic balancer ready.
