Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 06 Mazda MPV and it has been over heating when I'm driving.
When I stop and idle it cools off. I know it leaking antifreeze somewhere
because i keep adding more. I have found a bolt directly below the
thermostat housing unit that is covered in antifreeze. I wiped it down and
waited. A few minutes later its covered again. I think I have have the source
but I don't know what the part is. HELP PLEASE

Make sure it is not leaking from the bottom of the hose, the clamp might be a hair loose. Do you have a picture zoomed out a little more to see more of the surroundings?

I would replace the thermostat and gasket with new , get an OEM from the dealer , it may cost more but it'll eliminate the thermostat . Or perhaps a compression test to see if the head gasket is bad , is the exhaust whitish ? is there goop under the oil fill cap ?. See if fans are running when it get hot ,

Yeah this pic is a little further out. I have a mechanic looking at it next week. He's saying he's going to replace the entire thermostat assembly. Yes the exhaust is whitish, but i was thinking that's because its so cold outside. I can't smell antifreeze from it. I don't see any "goop" under the fill cap. I'm fairly sure the fans are running.
That does appear to be leaking from the hose connection, if you look at the end of the hose there appears to be a wet spot across from the hyphen on the thermostat housing. Make sure the clamp is tight and dry it up then check again

Yeah i went thru added a couple new clamps. I thought they were too high on the hose. added more antifreeze and yes there is still a leak. Thank you fanatic for your help!
Ok, from there I'd replace the thermostat and gasket.
