Question type: Maintenance & Repair

ok engine idle very rough, when you rev the engine it evens out and the rpms increase (as they should). However When you put the car in drive, there is a slight knocking noise and the rpms will NOT increase and the engine has NO acceleration power what so ever. Now for everything i've done so far, Changed spark plugs and wire set, Ignition coil packs, ignition control module, Engine Computer, Throttle position sensor, Cam and Crank position sensors, No detectable Vacuum leaks, fuel pump and injectors working. Also engine has the "closed" transmission system so no way to check transmission fluid level. but have not detected any transmission fluid leaks

Check engine light is on, but the only code being pulled is Random/Multiple cylinder misfire

ooof...sounds like your timing chain as skipped a tooth....verify position with pin punches and identifying marks on the pulleys~

have your auto tech put another chain and tensioner on there and be good for a while longer...because you simply had a loss of power means it is not too late, could have had a catastrophic failure of the chain, links go 'a flyin' and crunches the timing cover...all is still not lost then, but bent valves can be expensive to contend with...you got it in time...hoooray~

Honestly, I had this issue on a 2000 chevy Monte Carlo....after changing and replacing damn near everything, no change..ended up being the computer needed reflashed...is a common issue with Chevrolet cars with the obd II computer systems.
