Change steering wheel

I own a Mk 2.5 with an air-bag type steering wheel. Not being a fan of air-bags blowing up in my face, is it possible/practical to replace it with the Mountney wood rim steering wheel?

All custom steering wheels come with the adaptor to install on your model. You will have to contend with the wires & hoses. Take your air pack bag to your Auto Body Shops. Some will buy it from you. They are pricey new, so the shops are glad to get yours. Maybe you can make a deal with them to do the change out for your pack.
Most body shops will not buy your air bag in the US - contact a salvage yard.

First off be careful. remove the battery before you do this and leave it removed for a few days. it can take time for the airbag capacitor to discharge and you don't want it blowing up as your remove it. also check with local laws. in WA state it is illegal to tamper with or remove an airbag form a vehicle. make sure you have all of the new wheel parts that you need beforehand unless you want to go sans steering wheel. also i would reccomend saving the airbag in case you ever want to sell the car, some people want original stock and airbags are expensive.
