How can I raise my driver's seat??

Asked by 2thfairy Jul 04, 2012 at 07:32 PM about the 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base

Question type: General

I just purchased my third Miata.  This 2006 MX-5 does not feature a way to adjust the
height of the driver's seat, as my previous Miatas did.  I'm 5'1", and cannot see over
the dash.  Is there anything that can be done, so I don't have to drive around sitting
on a pillow??  PLEASE don't ask me why I bought a car that does not fit me...I've
already been seriously ridiculed by my son!!  Thanks for any help you can offer.

I just removed the 4 floor bolts and put steel spacers in with longer bolts. I have the opposite problem, I'm 6'2" and wanted to raise just the front of the seat to act as a bolster for beneath my knees so i use a piece of 1" barstock, 1" long and drilled a 3/8" hole for both of the front seat mounts, and used longer bolts and it has worked great for me.
