when I hit minor road bumps, the cd player in my 91 Mazada convertible is interrupted. Is this normal? Can something be done to improve shock mounting for the cd player?

The CD players of that ear has no buffering to accommodate bumps. The best thing to do is stiffen the chassis to reduce flex. An easy way to start is a strut tower brace.

Thanks, not sure what a strut tower brace installation requires, but I will check into it. If possible, I would like to find some way to shock mount the CD player.
Strut tower brace takes 5 minutes. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/281294201815? ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82 Try it first. No way to easily to make the old cd player shock- resistant. Easier to plug in a casette adapter and use your phone aux plug http://www.walmart.com/ip/44569230? wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227036455803&wl0=&wl1=g& wl2=c&wl3=70630934449&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=158321876209&ve h=sem Next option would be to get aftermarket stereo
