2004 Mazda RX8 total loss of dash.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was backing out of my drive way
when I lost all power for my car, dash
stopped working and it no longer will
turn over to start. The radio also
does not work anymore as well. I
have no idea what occurred but it's
not good. I'm sitting at 123,000 miles
and just got the oil changed, any
ideas?

It's a electrical problem. (Yeah I know DUHHHH) Check your ground cables. Make sure that they are clean and tight. There are a few but the main one is the one that runs from the battery to the frame. Start there.
I'll check that in the morning, would I still have power to the lights if it was the ground wire?
Hmmmm. That's a good question. Try the ground straps in the morning. Look around 'coz there are a few. Let me know.
Check your main fuseable link, it should be under the hood in or near the fuse box.
Start where Michael suggested. It's easier and more likely.
Ok so got it running it was the ign fuse (I know thought it was good.) however when I put it in reverse it blows that fuse everytime, any suggestions?
Since the problem occurs in reverse, check anything to do with that gear, lights wires , and transmission reverse switch, (manual trans???) When a fuse blows, it does so to protect a circuit from overheating due to excessive current draw. So, check wires and switch for broken insulation which would cause a wire to touch bare metal.
Also always check battery voltage and battery connections for looseness and/or corrosion.
