2006 Audi A4, battery charged, will only start with a jump

Asked by Lisa Apr 13, 2020 at 07:48 AM about the 2006 Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 A4 is stored in the winter; only driven in warm weather, take battery
out.  Over the weekend, I put battery on the charger, charged to 100% and put
it back in.  Car wouldn't start.  Jumped it, started right up, drove it for about 45
minutes.  Turned the car off.  Wouldn't start.  Ran like a charm - just won't start
on it's own.  Any thoughts?

Battery is toast. Replace it. If you stored the battery over the winter without a battery maintainer attached, you permanently damaged the plates in the battery with sulfation. See this post to understand battery sulfation. https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/what-causes-battery-sulfation/
