2006 Audi A4, turns over but won't stay started

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have been having issues for quite a while, would start and run when it wanted
but also would die when it wanted as well. The car has 160k miles. I have had
the high and low pressure fuel pumps replaced. Took to Audi dealership and
they said it was low pressure again. Tried to start it before leaving dealership
and it ran so drove it home almost 3 hours, then died as soon as I got into the
driveway. Ran some tests when I got home and got these fault codes: P0563
P0010 P0089 P0171 P0302. What do I need to fix?

The car also idles hard and high. All the light and electrical works got a new battery not to long ago. When I would get gas it was also very rough and sputtering. Sometimes would have to leave car on while getting gas or it wouldn't start.
How old are your ignition coils, ignition coil harness / wirings, and spark plugs? Those last 2 codes can definitely be a result of a fried ignition coil, fried spark plug, or fried ignition coil harnesses. Unplug the harnesses from the coils and take the coils out. Do any of the bottoms have a white / orange color at the bottom? If so, that coil pack is dead, and can easily be a cause for your P0171 P0302 codes (especially Cylinder 2). While the coil is out, take the spark plugs out and see if any of them have an excessive "black" or orange rusted color above the threads, those are also bad and you need new plugs. My 2011 Jeep Liberty had a cylinder misfire, and got a similar "too lean" code like you did, and it would sputter when accelerating. Turns out it was the ignition coil that died and basically my V6 was a W5, lol. Are you having any rough idle issues? Where do the RPMs sit after its warmed up?
Also: Ignition coils can have a few codes associated with them, so that is why I think starting there would not only be most cost effective, but would also be the easiest for you to check out yourself! There's a ton of circuitry in ignition coils and there are codes for a coil's primary circuit, secondary circuit, etc, which means that there are intricate parts within the bad coil on your cylinder 2 that could be busted.
p0010 is the came position sensor a place to help with that is here. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3864951 --------------- P0089 is the fuel pressure regulator which would be the source of the fuel pressure issue. ------------ p0302 would indicate that there is either faulty plug or coil on cylinder 2. P0171 would be a direct issue of either the 302 code or the 89 code. I would start by replacing the cam sensor its relatively cheap and easy to replace and may solve all the issues then move on to doing a spark plug change and see if that helps. if not replace a coil from another cylinder and see if the problem follows the coil pack. ----- on a side note I would have to say never take it to the dealer for dignosiging unless you enjoy spending money and no resolution. Find a good Audi/VW specialist shop in your area they will be 100% more help for any issues you may have. as for the issues your having now you can likely do them yourself at home. hope this helps .
Update: changed spark plugs and coils and seems to be running good for now at least. Thanks guys appreciate the feedback!
Awesome! Glad we could help :) Yeah, hopefully it was just bad spark plugs and coils, super easy to fix, and cheap! Keep us posted if the problems persist (or new problems occur, lol)
So went to get something to eat yesterday and after waiting 10 minutes in the drive thru was working great, got my food and pulled away and decide to die a bit down the road. Had to push it to a parking lot, and the next day put some jumper cables on just to make sure it had all it juice and after a few tries it started up so I drove it home. I sat there for 5 minutes and never died and started right back up haven't drove it yet today cause who knows if it will stay running.
if it stalled it would have threw a code and see what it is. Also If you keep having this problem only periodically i would perhaps suggest having the fuel filter checked or changed. if it has never been done it could be a likely culprit for random stalls. other then that if the battery is dieing that often hints to and issue with the power in the car. try starting the car and activtly test the voltage with a volt meter see what happens. during operation it should be about 13.5-14.2V any less or any higher and it ussaly means there is something going on. If the car is over 180,000km that you may just have an issue with the alternator. if the electrical is fine that would point to the fuel system. try the couple things i mentioned earlier as they are mostly speciific to your codes and then try what i mentioned here.
I have had my high and low pressure fuel pumps replaced also had the filter changed at the same time. The battery is also new just jumped it cause tried to start it so many times.
ok then have a fuel pressure test done. cause the cut could be the regulator which is under the hood. also i mentioned the cam positon sensor earlier which could be the source of the issue
