Starter

Asked by 2813jordan Sep 17, 2019 at 07:40 PM about the 2006 Nissan Armada LE 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a new starter installed and when I turn over
the key the car makes a loud screeching noise.
The car is running fine and the noise stops
immediately. Can it be I need to replace the starter
again?

The starter may need to be shimmed. Shims prevent the pinion gear in the starter from engaging the flywheel too tightly (or getting stuck there).
