Alternator?

Asked by Ashley Sep 06, 2018 at 02:04 AM about the 1998 Chevrolet Prizm FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 98chevy Prizm was doing just fine had
no problem starting or staying running all
day and out of nowhere I went to start it
back up after being off maybe 10 minutes
and it wouldn't even turn over. Put the
jumper cables on and it instantly started. I
let it sit and run for a few minutes and
started to drive it not even a mile down the
road my lights went dim, I couldn't
accelerate, then I just died. so I got another
jump this time leaving them on a little
longer. I then proceeded to leave. This time I
got about 5-10 miles and it did it again.
What is causing this

Have your battery charged and tested. Have the alternator and charging system tested. It is nearly impossible to test a badly discharged battery so get it charged up.
