I have a Mini Cooper 2006 Hatch with the check engine light coming off an on

Asked by SiniMini Jan 02, 2018 at 09:04 PM about the 2006 MINI Cooper Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light comes off an on. Also my brake and ABS light just
flickered but does not stay on and my tire pressure light comes on. I was told
that I need to replace my ASC module which is very costly. Is there any other
options of getting this repaired. Thanks, Anderson

As advised above, there is also a wheel speed sensor on left From & right rear plus a brake wear sensor. Any of these could cause a CEL. Scan for codes

Hi Anderson my name is Riqui I have a Mini Cooper 2006 S, they changed the crank shaft sensor, the harmonic balancer, & the alternator but it still has the same problem. I’ve spent a lot of money trying to fix it, but the EP, The service engine light, the brake light and the abs light still turn on. Have you found out the problem to your car? Or does anyone know what is wrong with my car? I would appreciate any help

This is good to know Riqui. I spoke to a local shop that works on imports and I was told that Minis are notorious for getting moisture around the computer causing corrosion to the cables and eventually breaking. I am having the same issues with my 2006 S but i am in the process of trouble shooting so any updates from you would be appreicated. thanks
