Faint Metallic Tick Noise

Asked by carsrfun Apr 01, 2012 at 10:02 PM about the 2006 Pontiac GTO Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 GTO has a faint metallic tick noise from the passenger rear wheel area (heard in the passenger compartment) when I travel over small bumps. It usually happens when the wheel rebounds down. I've replaced the shock, wire tied various wires etc. After 4 trips to the repair shop they have now given up. Any ideas?

could be a loose brake pad or no grease in the caliper slides ,they rattle around sometimes. could also be strut tops or the exhaust pipes . just to name a few.

I know this is way old but I had this problem. Turned out to be a broken spot weld near the wheel well. Had to take seats out, wedged screwdriver between gap noise went away.
