Should take into a brake shop to have all inspected.

It sounds like a rod is lose down in the shifter area, but has to be something in the master cylinder area

I'm just guessing on this one, but sounds like it should be checked out by a mechanic.

Also, the fluid level stays full all of the time..is it possible for the push rod to be sticking within the cylinder

I have been to a shop, and they checked it out and said that they couldn't find anything wrong

And they can't narrow it down for you and give you an explanation. Lazy mechanics. First off you shouldn't have to be pumping your brake pedal, either they need to be bled or the master cylinder is on its way out. You may want to look under the dash at the brake pedal linkage. You may find the problem once you take the master cylinder off, may be in the brake booster. I just can't believe some people now a days can take the time to figure things out.
