My 2001 volvo s40 has the Check Engine light and it feels like I'm pushing engine and right when I let go of the gas speed downgrades quicker than usuall. Lookin to drive to Chicago from Texas.

You can trust your uncle but not my geography. Texas to Chicago is quite a distance isn't it? Call your trusted Uncle and ask him what he thinks about it

It is and that's why I'm on here to see what i can do. My uncles out of town for a week so there's no way for me to reach him on his phone, and I want to head out tomorrow. So what do you guys recommend?

SO I am guessing it is not just a loose gas cap and I am also guessing that you basically understand where to put in the gas but not a whole lot of maintenance experience - so like it or lump it- stay where you are! Wait untill your Uncle gets back and call him.
