Shift knob replacement

Asked by Tim May 17, 2020 at 10:40 PM about the 2006 Volvo S40 2.4i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am wanting to replace the manual shift knob with a
different one. Can I use a universal or do I have to use an
OEM knob? I ask because the knob looks very specific.

I tried but they dont have the same locking mechanism on the knob. That's why I ask. So far I can't find a good one. I guess I'm going to have to buy the OEM for $100
