Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I warm it up before trying to move it but for about a week, it had to run for at least 40 minutes before it would come out of park.

The transmission is the most complex, intricate, least understood and most often neglected part of vehicles. I would guess that you are experiencing transmission problems. Take it to a reputable transmission shop or dealer ASAP.

This happened to me once and it turned out to be that I parked to close to a curb with my wheel turned funny. Tow truck guy was able to move the obstruction and it jumped out of park. He said he gets that call all the time with Volvos.
