No Acceleration
Asked by mpa65 Dec 09, 2017 at 11:53 AM about the 2005 Volvo S80 2.5T AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car won't accelerate... I'm driving fine then
suddenly it slows down to a crawl, my foot on the
gas, try to give more gas and nothing - No pick up
and go. This use to only happen on the highway at
60+mph, so I have been avoiding the highway and
staying close to home until we can come up with
the $$$ for repairs; but last night it did it on at
40mph and the check engine light flashes. It's our
only mode of transportation so we really need it to
keep going. What can cause this and is there
anything I can do in the meantime? Please note: I
did put in fuel injection (?) and gas yesterday.

Lemme know if you found an answer mine has the same problem
Replace the ignition coils
My Volvo sometimes it just does not have power and if I try to hit the gas it will not increase speed but instead it will start to rav wat is the problems
Did you guys figured it out what it was? I am having the same issue on mine
I have the C30 2.0L Diesel -07, and (allthough very rarely) I do sometimes experience the same issue on the highway. Haven't solved the problem, so I'd also like to know if anyone finds the solution.
I have wrestled with the sudden loss of the accelerator numerous times and could not figure out why until I pulled back on the brake pedal with my foot and I would have the accelerator again and so after tracing the issue to the Brake Pedal Position Sensor located on the firewall next to the brakeboister. You can actually split the top off of the sensor and clean the contacts and carbon residue off of the slide inside and I've not had a problem since. Hope this helps.
