broken turbo

When I stopped the car, I noticed there was silence, no noise from the turbo. The next morning while driving the turbo was not kicking in.

The bearings probably seized up. Time for a new turbo. Do you idle the car for several minutes to cool the turbo off before shutting off the engine?

If you're not making boost, there are a couple things to check. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. Check all intake hoses and make sure hose clamps are tight. The wastegates could even be stuck open and you aren't able to produce boost. +1 to letting the car idle. You should always give it at least 30 seconds to idle before turning the car off so the oil can flow out of the turbo. If the oil is sitting in the turbo when the engine is off, it will bake and eventually seize up the bearings.
what is the turbo, my engine light is on and I was told by mechanic that it was my turbo he plugged into the car and read it off his diagnostics
