How to replace the passenger seat motor on a 98 z3

Passenger seat no longer moves forward and backward. Can the motor be replaced without removing the seat?

If you can get your hands under there you might try. I would just take the seat out and lay it "on its back", (down on an old blanket) to make the motor swap easier. 4 bolts, pull wire connection, seat out - repair motor - seat in, 4 bolts, wire connected.

How do you get the seat to move forward to revel the rear bolts? My seat stuck all the way back, motors work fine (tested) but the the seat will not move??
