Barely made it home.  Loud clickn noise from
where the heads are. Wants to start but doesnt.

Need more info. How many miles on her? What is the typical driving routine? Are u a hard driver? Do u tow? Describe what barely coming home means? Was it in a limp mode? more info

180000. No tow drove it like bout 1/2 mile. Ran ok. Just the loud noise coming from engine. Not hard driver .. i take kids to school and drive to work. Total bout 1 1/2 miles .

My first thought is that it could be the lifters. I spoke to a mechanic at a Mitsu dealer and bearing or rod problems are rare, but they do see a lot of bad lifters.
