When the clutch on my AC is disengaged, it rattles a lot. Should I get it replaced? How much? 2001 Park Ave.

check the tension or your flat belt tensioner...also the alignment...as it will swim to one side if the tensioner is worn~....how can you tell this is from just the A/C...personally do believe the tensioner is WORN...check that...okay~?

It doesn't rattle when the clutch is engaged/when the compressor is running. Does that info change your thoughts any?

naw...that flat belt is stretched and the tensioner is worn...imposing a little "load duty" only makes it taught/rattle~ examine please these things...the condition of the flat belt and the condition of the spring loaded tensioner pulley~ okey?~
