On my 97 rs v6 as im sure all camaros there is what i feel is a driveshaft loop of sorts
just behind transmissin its just a plate crossing thdriveline tunnel. My question is this.
I drive my car i dont "race" in otherwords no 4k launches can i remove this without
comprimising structure as my exaust absolutely will not stay off of it causing a very
annoying rattle.

sounds like a heat shield , i would try to reattach it. or it's the safety for the drive shaft, that is held up by 4 bolts , tighten them up, i wouldn't remove it.

if its the brace just tighten it up, whats rattling is probably the heat shield on the catylic converter or the converter itself.

No my exaust is hitting the safety brace its not the heat shield. It is held on by 4 bolts and short of having my exaust removed bent and replaced if its not structral i think ill remove it.... Or just put a flat spot in exaust where it runs over that brace.

then the exhaust is the problem not the brace, i would try to reposition the exhaust pipe.

What size are the bolts. One has come out on my Z28. Is it course or fine thread - SAE or Metric? Need to put one back in.

The bolts are for a shield that has two bolts on the drivers side and two bolts on the passenger side. Is below the drive shaft and the torque arm, near the transmission.
