no start dash lights flashing
Have 2002 regal 200k miles bought it used a couple of months ago was driving along ,came to a stop engine died . .Now when you turn the key the dash lights flash and wont start. car will start if you engage E-brake . as soon as you relase E-brake ,it shuts off and dash light s flash . also the floor shifter wont come out of park .any ideas?

Already Tried:
tried diconecting e-brake switch . dont have the origanl resistor imbeded key . thought maybe a security pass key problem . also with shifter problem , I could hear some type of solinod clicking near ignition switch and it feels real wam though cover
Sounds like a couple different issues to me. I would first look to the key if your not sure about it. If you don't have the transponder key it can cause some of the problems you are mentioning. Another area to look at is the battery connections clean them up nice and shinny and tighten well. Also look at the connections on the ECM. With the erratic symptoms you have could be there as well.
Just a thought, on the right side of the shifter is a small cap, remove cap and take something like a small screw driver or key and push down on the lever that is down in that hole and it will release the shifter, You may have a safety neutral switch problem, meaning when you put it in park that activates the safety neutral switch, when you try and start the car, first release the shifter once as explained then go back into park and see if it starts.
