Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 buick regal that wouldn't turn over due to a bad battery. I
replaced that battery and no nothing happens. I turn the key and the lights
come on in the dash but no click of the starter and no engine turn. the engine
is not frozen since I was able to turn the crank, I checked the fuses. What else
could it be?

Sometimes when battery voltage is lost, it could effect your security system. Make sure battery connections are all good. I looked your starter wiring diagram, the security system is involved with you starter motor. You can try a relearn procedure, see if it helps? Turn the ignition switch to start, then release to on position. The security lamp should be on. After 10 minutes the lamp will turn off. Repeat the 10 minute sequence 2 more times, with 5 seconds between them. Turn the ignition switch off. Hopefully the next key cycle the starter motor will crank the engine? You might use a battery charger on lo charge so you don't run the battery down.

Turns out I had to replace the battery and the posts. Now it tries to turn over and either I'll try the above procedure again and hopefully the battery doesn't drain dead or I don't know what else it could be.
make sure the ground wire from the battery that is on the transmission housing next to the starter is really tight.
