leather on door panels coming off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

is this a common issue?  I have a 2007 Mustang GT.  I keep it in excellent condition, inside and out.  Recently, the leather on the driver's side door panel began peeling off.  I checked the passenger side door.  While it hasn't come off yet, it looks like it's going in the same direction.  Reminds me of a sinking headliner.  Any idea of the cost to replace both, inc. labor?  Thx.

You should be able to buy new door panels without any problems but they are not leather. Look on the net for prices.

Yes this is a common issue for these cars. You do not need to get new pieces unless that's your preference. Simply use some contact cement to fix it.

Super common issue with that year model. As was said, don't spring for new inserts as they will just do the same over time. The best bet is to use adhesive to secure them back in place yourself. Just be patient as contact cement is messy and you don't want to accidentally get it all over the panel while trying to secure it.

I also have a 2007 Mustang GT - last summer the passenger side came off. I had it repaired twice with adhesive. The first heat wave this summer it came off for a third time & now the drivers side also came off. I will be going to the dealer in the next week. I will update you with a price.

Use vinyl top adhesive it can handle the high temperature inside the car during summer
